Wallpaper Installation requires preparation of the walls. If we will be hanging your wallpaper on new drywall, we will need to prime the walls with wallpaper primer to seal the drywall, help the paper adhere to the wall, and minimize mold. We are certified applicators of an EPA and FDA approved microbial mold and mildew killer if the job needs extra care. We wash any dirt from the walls and lightly sand painted walls. If you have existing wallpaper we will remove it using a wallpaper remover, a wide blade, and rags. We will not use a steamer on your sheet rock...it may cause mold to grow. We remove electrical outlet and light switch covers. We will also fill holes or cracks, then sand lightly until the surface is smooth. The first strip of wallpaper should line up with the last strip of wallpaper design. If your walls are off... we will guide you not to use Plaid. Most homes today have a variance in the ceiling line so we will want to start and finish wallpapering in a corner behind a door so that the mismatch is less obvious. The focal point of the room should have the fewest seams. We measure out our starting point and use a level to lightly draw a vertical straight edge on the wall. This line marks where the first strip of wallpaper should be placed. Then we close the door and do our magic.
